Miss South Carolina Leah Lawson in a bikini
Miss South Carolina Leah Lawson headlines a gallery chock-full of bikini goodness from the Miss USA bikini prelims on Wednesday. Oh what a coincidence, I just learned that South Carolina is my favorite state. Leah and I should get together for coffee and heavy petting. I'm totally kidding . . . I hate coffee.

A bikini is usually a women's abbreviated two-piece swimsuit with a bra top for the chest and underwear cut below the navel. The basic design is simple: two triangles of fabric on top cover the woman's breasts and two triangles of fabric on the bottom cover the groin in front and the buttocks in back. The size of a bikini bottom can range from full pelvic coverage to a revealing thong or G-string design.

The name for the bikini design was coined in 1946 by Parisian engineer Louis Réard, the designer of the bikini. He named the swimsuit after Bikini Atoll, where testing on the atomic bomb was taking place. Fashion designer Jacques Heim, also from Paris, re-released a similar design earlier that same year, the Atome. Due to its controversial and revealing design, the bikini was slow to be adopted. In many countries it was banned from beaches and public places. The Vatican declared the design sinful. While still considered risqué, the bikini gradually became a part of popular culture when film stars—Brigitte Bardot, Raquel Welch, Ursula Andress and others—began wearing them on public beaches and in film.

The bikini design became common in most Western countries by the mid-1960s as beachwear, swimwear and underwear. By the late 20th century it had become common as sportswear in sports such as beach volleyball and bodybuilding. Variations of the term are used to describe stylistic variations for promotional purposes and industry classifications, including monokini, microkini, tankini, trikini, pubikini, bandeaukini and skirtini. A man's brief swimsuit may also be referred to as a bikini. Similarly, a variety of men's and women's underwear types are described as bikini underwear.

The bikini has gradually grown to gain wide acceptance in Western society. By the early 2000s, bikinis had become a US$811 million business annually, and boosted spin-off services such as bikini waxing and sun tanning.

University chief rips AKB48 songwriting star for ‘Einstein’ lyrics

The president of a women’s university on Monday lashed out at a song written by Yasushi Akimoto, mastermind of the all-girl idol group AKB48, that says it is OK for girls to be “empty-headed” and that being intelligent is “meaningless” if one is “not loved.”
“I felt as if the clock had been turned back to 50 or 100 years ago,” Masami Ohinata, a psychologist who is president of Keisen University in Tokyo, blogged after a student showed her the lyrics.
“Einstein yori Dianna Agron,” was released on April 13 by HKT48 in Fukuoka, one of the idol group’s many regional sister units.
Akimoto is one of Japan’s most successful songwriters. Sales of CD albums penned by him set a record by surpassing 100 million in December 2015, according to music information provider Oricon Inc. He is also on the executive board of the Tokyo 2020 Olympics and Paralympics organizing committee.
Ohinata said the lyrics reminded her of a textbook used in Norway more than 100 years ago that marked certain questions as unfit for girls to solve because they were too difficult.
The song is about a schoolgirl who knows almost nothing about Albert Einstein but admires American actress Dianna Agron. The lyrics portray her as preoccupied with how to be pretty while spurning academic learning with such phrases as “I don’t think about anything difficult,” “I am not interested in news,” and “what is important is keeping my skin smooth.”
Ohinata said she later asked her students in a psychology class what they thought of the song, and they criticized each phrase.
In response to the phrase “girls must be cute, they can be stupid while in school,” the university students agreed “while it is important to be cute, studying is also fun and if you are stupid in school, you will remain so for the rest of your life,” Ohinata wrote.
And to “no matter how good you are with studies, it is meaningless if you are not loved,” the students countered that “no matter how much you are loved, it is meaningless if you can’t get a job.”

J Lo On Those Rihanna Boots

WHEN Rihanna unveiled her colaborative collection with Manolo Blahnik in the April issue of British Vogue, it was only a matter of time before it became a celebrity hit - and Jennifer Lopez for one wasn't going to let anything stop her wearing them in her new music video, Aint Your Mama, even if they weren't the easiest to bounce around in.

"Rihanna had sent me these amazing boots and I was like, 'These have to be in the video'. They were hard to dance in," said Lopez, reports People. "Everyone else was dancing in combat boots and sneakers. I walked out to the set and I was like, 'Nobody wearing heels but me? OK!' But we pulled it off."

Kylie Jenner is free

Kylie Jenner leaving a studio in L.A. (5/11)

Kylie Jenner finally ditched her leech of a boyfriend Tyga. Damn, and right before he could weasel his way into opening up a joint bank account, too. Sucks for him. Above is Kylie getting into her Rolls Royce outside a studio in L.A. earlier this week because why wouldn't an 18-year-old drive a Rolls Royce? From TMZ:
Sources connected with the former couple tell us KJ recently realized she wants to live the single life and soak up the spoils of being an 18-year-old multi-millionaire. That frequently means flying all over the world for appearances, and we're told that didn't sit well with Tyga ... who's focusing on his music.

As one source put it ... she wants to jet set, he wants to chill in a studio -- and they both knew it wouldn't work.

Also, we're told since their mini break last fall ... there's been constant drama over "dumb stuff" -- what to eat, what they say on social media, blah, blah.

As for the model at Mother's Day brunch with Tyga? We're told he admits having a couple models "hanging around," but no serious girlfriends -- and Kylie's confident there was no cheating before they split.
I hope Tyga doesn't get too down over this breakup. The world is his oyster. There's still so many places he can go in life. Oops, I meant to add "with a bus pass." With a bus pass, there's still so many places he can go. Sunset Blvd . . . Santa Monica Blvd . . . Hollywood Blvd . . . maybe not Rodeo Dr (don't think the buses go down that street). Screw Kylie Jenner and her stupid cars that she always makes on-time payments for!

Michaela Kocianova went to the beach

Here's Slovak model Michaela Kocianova at the beach in Miami earlier this week. The 27-year-old model grew up in Trencin, a city in western Slovakia about 75 miles from the capital of Bratislava. Towards the end of the Marcomannic Wars between the Roman Empire and the Suebian Germanic tribe Quadi in AD 179, the Romans carved an inscription on the rock under the present-day Trencin Castle and the place was mentioned as Laugaricio. It is the northernmost known presence of the Romans in Central Europe, so if that shit comes up on Jeopardy!, you totally owe me.
